Avery Coonley Tile Pillow  Item No. 142

Wright used this stylized geometric tulip pattern in the tiles on the exterior or the Avery Coonley House, Riverside, Illinois (1908). The four large squares form the tulip blossom while the vertical row of tiny white squares represents represent the stem. Horizontal white rectangles are the leaves and the black lines are the roots. The repeated design creates an overall grille-like pattern.
